Meet Rocket

Rocket is quite the handsome fella!  Just look at those beautiful eyes!  He's a 1 1/2 yr old smooth wild boar dachshund recently released from the commercial breeding industry.  He can be timid and shy when he first meets you, but with some love and patience, he becomes quite the sweetheart, enjoying spending time snuggling and getting loves.

Rocket has shown a tendency to get attached to one person in his home and will display some guarding behavior (mostly barking) when other people come around. His foster home is currently working with a trainer to help Rocket learn more appropriate behavior and help him build trust with more people.Rocket will do best in a quiet home with patient humans who will continue to work with him on this issue. For this reason, children are not a good fit for Rocket.

Rocket is doing very well with potty training as long as you take him out regularly and does fine in his crate during the day when his foster is at work.  Rocket prefers the company of smaller dogs (not so fond of large dogs) and absolutely despises cats!  He enjoys playing and cuddling with his foster dachshund siblings.  A resident dog and securely fenced yard is a must.

Suggested adoption donation for Rocket is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to other geographical areas as long as we can find a local volunteer to perform the courtesy home visit, and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note: invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers.
