Wag N Train Rescue

Dachshund * Adult * Male * Small

Meet Jesse

Jesse is an 8 year old red smooth dachshund that is a ready made pet.  He's already potty trained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash and has good manners.  All you have to do is add the love and he's good to go!

Jesse lost his elderly owners and tried living in a very active family with young children for 6 months, but Jesse has decided he prefers a calmer, more quiet environment and has a few requests for his forever home:

  • Jesse isn't fond of sharing all his stuff (he was an only child for almost 8 years), so he would like to be either an only dog or with one other dog in the house that doesn't mind him being bossy. (There will be an adjustment period with some growling, but Jesse is pretty much all talk.)
  • No small kids. He loves older kids, but small kids don't understand when to give him alone time. Respectful kids 12 and over should be fine.
  • Lots of walkies. Jesse loves going on walks and car rides. He would love a fenced yard with squirrels to chase, but if there were plenty of walkies on a leash, he could live without the fenced yard. (But he does love chasing squirrels!)
  • Lots of loves and snuggles. Jesse is a very loving guy. He enjoys laying next to you on the couch to watch TV. Even better if you give him a belly rub or a scratch behind the ears.
  • Jesse needs someone to help him continue to lose weight. Jesse left his first home 6 months ago at 26 lbs. He's down to 19 lbs right now. He still needs to lose a few more lbs, so his new home will need to help him stick to his diet and exercise program so he can have a long healthy life. (It's not hard, just measure food, add veggies for treats and plenty of exercise.)
If you don't want to struggle through the potty training, chewing up shoes, fighting on a leash stage of dog training, Jesse is your man!

Suggested adoption donation for Jesse is a minimum of $300 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs. Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to other geographical areas as long as we can find a local volunteer to perform the courtesy home visit, and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note: invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers.
