Meet Freddie

  • Breed:  Yorkie/Chihuahua Mix
  • Age: Adult
  • Gender: Male

Fat Freddie is an 11 pound adult male Yorkie/Chihuahua (we believe) mix who came to rescue after the death of his owner. Freddie is very vocal and opinionated, voicing his displeasure with situations and announcing his presence outdoors. He is coming out of his shell more each day and loves mealtime and his training treats, and cheese!...he also appreciates lolling on the sofa and in soft dog beds, rolling on his back, all the while grumbling under his breath.

Freddie likes other dogs and absolutely MUST have a resident dog in his forever home to continue to teach him about appropriate canine behavior. He has learned that his kennel is a quiet place to sleep and enters with only slight enticement. Freddie sleeps all night in his "quiet place" but snores like a drunken sailor!

After being in rescue for 3 weeks, Freddie still does not want human touch but will follow his foster mom, and foster canine brothers and sisters, from room to room, never wanting to be far from the pack and the activity. He runs outside easily with the other dogs, barking at everything and nothing. Freddie is NOT leash trained and has perfected the art of the "alligator roll" in an attempt to get away. He may, or may not, be house trained. In his foster home he potties outside when kept on a strict schedule but still has an occasional "oops" in the house.

Fat Freddie is a reclamation project for someone who is patient, gentle, and with very low expectations. He is not a dog for a first-time pet owner nor is he a good candidate for anyone with children. Due to his barking, he is not a dog for apartment living and needs a securely fenced yard (think Fort Knox) because if he gets away, he will not come to his humans when called.

We think Freddie is totally adorable in his own grumpy, "little old man" way and his personality is delightfully unique, He continues to make progress every day and we are confident that the perfect home is out there, simply waiting to be charmed by a tiny curmudgeon.

adoption-policy-button

Wag N' Train Terrier Rescue adopts nationally (the contiguous 48 states) if we can locate a volunteer willing to assist with a home visit. Approved adopters need to be prepared to travel to the Omaha area, we do not ship our foster dogs and we do not arrange transports.

Unless otherwise indicated, our foster dogs require a securely fenced yard. Invisible/underground fencing does not classify as "secure."

Our volunteers process applications that meet the MINIMUM criteria for a specific foster dog. If you do not meet the baseline requirements, we encourage you to continue to monitor our Facebook page and website for a foster dog who is a great fit for your lifestyle!

Please refer to the Additional Details section of the bio for specific information about the foster dog. We receive a high volume of applications and can only process applications that meet the criteria for that specific dog.
