Meet Pico

  • Breed: Yorkshire Terrier
  • Age: Adult
  • Gender: Male

This tiny yet mighty cutie was an unclaimed stray in SE Michigan.

Pico is a survivor! It was clear he had been on his own for some time. His fur was matted, his eyes crusted shut, his body emaciated and his nails overgrown. In a month, Pico has transformed! His fur is growing in, he is steadily gaining weight (currently topping the scales at a whopping 2.5 pounds)! A clever boy, he has never barked, but vocalizes when he needs to go out, is hungry, or wants affection.

Pico’s name is derived from the Italian word “piccolo” meaning “tiny” and “pico de gallo” which is zesty!

He is a terrific companion for someone who wants a snuggly fur baby who is a great traveler and a fantastic pint-sized companion.

Pico is pad trained and consistently goes outside, but cannot remain continent overnight due to his diminutive size. It is unknown if he has ever been on a leash and due to his malnourished state, he hasn’t been leash walked to date.

He gets along well with other dogs and appears to be fine with cats. He is not appropriate for a home with young children due to his size and limited vision. While Pico gets along with other dogs, he would be fine as the solo fur baby.

Medically, Pico has had surgery to repair 2 oral-nasal fistulas.

He has no teeth due to a history of neglect. He devours his pate with gusto!

He has dry eye, a condition that will require drops for life. He is visiting an ophthalmologist in late December to determine if he is a candidate for cataract surgery.

He is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and on monthly hw prevention. He is an “adult” but there is no way to know his age.

This holiday season let’s make Pico’s wishes come true and give him the gift of a forever family.

My adoption donation is a minimum of $250 . Funds go towards the high cost of care for our foster dogs.

Wag N' Train Terrier Rescue adopts nationally (the contiguous 48 states) if we can locate a volunteer willing to assist with a home visit. Approved adopters need to be prepared to travel to the Omaha area, we do not ship our foster dogs and we do not arrange transports.

Unless otherwise indicated, our foster dogs require a securely fenced yard. Invisible/underground fencing does not classify as "secure."

Our volunteers process applications that meet the MINIMUM criteria for a specific foster dog. If you do not meet the baseline requirements, we encourage you to continue to monitor our Facebook page and website for a foster dog who is a great fit for your lifestyle!

Please refer to the Additional Details section of the bio for specific information about the foster dog. We receive a high volume of applications and can only process applications that meet the criteria for that specific dog.
