Meet Reggie: A Playful Boy Discovering the World

***Reggie is a playful and affectionate young Dachshund who is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can continue building confidence and learning how wonderful life can be.***

Reggie is a 1-year-old red, smooth-coat Dachshund who came to Wag N’ Train Terrier Rescue from a commercial breeder facility. During the first year of his life, Reggie received very little individual attention or exposure to the world outside of the facility. He is now learning what it means to live in a real home and be a cherished family member.

Because Reggie had limited socialization early in life, he may bark when he first meets someone new. Once he feels safe and gets to know you, he becomes a completely different dog. Reggie is affectionate, cuddly, and eager to receive pets and attention from the people he trusts.

What Makes Reggie Special:
Reggie has recently discovered that toys are wonderful, treats are amazing, and exploring the world can be a lot of fun. He is very playful and would especially enjoy having a friendly, playful canine companion. Another confident dog could help Reggie continue developing his social skills while also giving him a buddy to play with.

Reggie has good leash-walking skills and loves going outside. He can still be a little unsure when cars drive past, but otherwise he is curious and eager to explore his surroundings. He sleeps well in a kennel and is continuing to work on housetraining, as he had never lived in a real home before entering rescue.

What Reggie Needs:
Reggie needs a patient adopter who understands that trust may take a little time. He would do best in a calm, structured home where he can adjust at his own pace and continue developing confidence. A playful canine companion would be a wonderful match for him. Because Reggie is still learning appropriate social skills and can be uncertain in new situations, a home without children or cats would be best.

My adoption donation is a minimum of $600. Funds go towards the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.

Wag N’ Train Terrier Rescue adopts nationally (contiguous 48 states) if a local volunteer performs a home visit. Approved adopters must travel to Omaha to pick up their dog — no transport services.

Invisible/underground fencing does not qualify as secure.
